Christine and Kevin moved into their bungalow in December 2005, they put a vat in the garden for their beautiful Koi to over winter and planned their pond. In February 2006 they set about building a new home for their boys and girls. The big dig took four days and they discovered they were on sand! Hence a 13” concrete base went in, followed by concrete blocks, reinforcing rods, back filled with concrete and rendered, then finished with 4 coats of G4. 2 bottom drains feed the filters which are situated in the pump house. The filters consist of 8 vortexes filled with Japanese matting, K1, and Rock, also 2 UVs, power is supplied by 1 ¼ ITT pump, and 1 ½ ITT. An Aquamax pump keeps the Bakki Shower running. The overall dimensions are 20’ x 8’ x 6’ deep built in a kidney shape, and holds 5800 gallons.
A quarantine tank of 2000 gallons has just been installed, and the surrounding area is an ongoing project. |
