Our pond was completed in April 2004, it is kidney shaped and contains 4,020 gallons and measures 16’ x 10’ x 5’ deep and is a liner pond and has 1 bottom drain.

This feeds a vortex and 4-bay filter system containing brushes, Flocor, and 2 bays of Lytag.  This is then pumped back to the pond via a waterfall, a 120,000BTU heat exchanger, and gas boiler.  It also has a skimmer, which takes the debris from the water surface.  The pond is home to some 33 Koi ranging in size from 150mm to 55cm of which the Mauraten Kohaku is my favourite which was purchased from Yagengi San on my trip to Japan last October.

We also have the quarantine pond, which is housed in the greenhouse and is 440 gallons, this is filtered with a homemade filter system made from water tanks.

The landscaping of the garden is not quite completed as we are in the process of planning a third and bigger quarantine/growing on pond at the bottom of the garden, which will hopefully be completed by Spring 08.
